Faulty furnaces are sometimes a reality for homeowners. If this is the case, you may need to replace your unit. To be sure, we have put together a list of things to look for – warning signs, if we may – that may signal your furnace is faulty and needs to go.
Top Indicators
Unfortunately, age isn’t just a number when it comes to furnaces. If your furnace is over 15 years, regardless of performance, you may need to watch it closely. It’s reaching the end of its lifespan.
When it comes to physical signs, if your furnace not heating your home appropriately, you may have a faulty furnace. The lack of heating in your home is a tell tale marker of your furnace not functioning properly.
Check your pilot light in your furnace. Is it on and is it blue? If it’s not either of these, your furnace may not be working right. A pilot light can easily be re-lit; if you’ve done this and it goes back out frequently, that may signal a larger issue.
Finally, let your bills be an indicator. Are your utilities higher than normal? That can signal that your furnace is working twice as hard to produce the same result.
